ROOTS

the madrigal, volume ii

Sunshower

by b. pick

Rain drips

down off the awning

of your childhood home

a lesson in dew and

doing the right thing;

as we cross the threshold

Of a cabin

built with broken nails

and cracking cuticles

hammered to aromatic

cedar with false idols

wrapped around ring fingers.
